Cookware
What should I do before using the pan for the first time?
-
Remove all packaging materials and labels. Please recycle waste properly.
-
Wash in warm soapy water; rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
How can I save energy while making sure to have the best cooking/frying results?
- Cook on a burner that is similar in base diameter to the pan you have selected.
- When cooking on gas, adjust the flame so it does not flare up the sides of the pan.
- Always use appropriate heat settings for your ingredients.
Is my pan suitable for induction hobs?
Yes, all GreenChef cookware is suitable for all hobs, including induction.
My pan does not connect with my induction hob, what can I do?
The diameter of the pan’s base should be equal to the size of the cooking zone. If the pan is too small, the element may not sense the pan and will not activate. Here´s an illustration of how to place the pan on the correct cooking zone. If your induction hob has flex zones, try adjusting the pan's position slightly and consult the hob’s instructions as well.

If residual white spots, stains, or blurs are visible on your (induction)cooking plate, remove them immediately. Do not continue cooking without first cleaning off the residue, as this can damage your (induction) hob. Preferably use a specialized cleaning product—refer always to the manufacturer's manual for recommended options.
How can I easily release my food from the pan?
- Always start with a clean pan.
- Let your food warm to room temperature before cooking.
- Preheat your pan for a few seconds on low to medium heat before adding a little oil or butter for optimal frying.
- Wear and tear of your cookware and its ceramic non-stick coating is normal. Over time there is a natural reduction of your pan’s non-stick properties. This process is accelerated by prolonged exposure of the non-stick surface to high heat, which causes carbonization of food and oil.
Can I use oils or fats in my pan?
Yes, we recommend using oil or butter, suitable for baking and frying (i.e. oils with a high smoke point). Check the label of your butter or oil to see make sure it’s suitable for cooking. Do not use any type of oil sprays, including aerosols, mist, and pump sprays.
How should I store my pan?
-
Storing pans alongside sharp metal implements can cause scratches or chipping in the surface of the non-stick coating and the cookware’s edges.
-
Always nest your non-stick cookware carefully, and don’t put lids with thin sharp edges inside your cookware. We recommend pan protectors.
How should I clean my pan? Is it dishwasher safe?
Dishwasher safety varies by cookware collection. Visit the collection page to see the specifics for each line
To preserve the non-stick performance of your cookware, however, it’s recommended to wash the cookware by hand in warm soapy water, rinse and then dry with a towel. Ceramic non-stick coatings can break down in the dishwasher due to the high salt content, bleach and phosphates of some dishwashing detergents.
Other tips:
- Do not use sharp steel wool or nylon scrubbing pads.
- Do not use nylon cleaning brushes since these might damage the non-stick properties.
- Deposits (called carbonization) can form on the non-stick coating as a result of prolonged exposure to high heat while cooking with fats and oils. High heat can carbonize oil and fat, which may accelerate the loss of non-stick performance. If this happens, empty any loose food, partly fill the pan with warm water and let it come to a quick boil, the food should be easily wiped away with a soapy sponge.
- For tougher burns, we recommend a melamine foam sponge, available in most grocery, department and hardware stores.
- Do not use oven cleaner, abrasive cleaners, or products containing chlorine bleach. Do not gouge the non-stick coating.
- Take care to ensure that your hob and your product is kept free from debris so as not to scratch the hob.
Can I use my pan in the oven?
The oven safety of your pan varies by cookware collection. Visit the collection page to see the specifics for each line.
Can I use my pan in the microwave?
No, the pans must not be used in the microwave.
The phenolic handle of my pan gets slightly warm during use, is this normal?
Yes, this is normal. While the phenolic handles in this range are designed to stay cool, they may become slightly warm if the pan is used for an extended period. This happens because the pan’s highly conductive material can transfer some heat to the handle. For safety, always use oven gloves when handling hot cookware.
Bakeware
What should I do before using the bakeware items for the first time?
-
Remove all packaging materials and labels. Please recycle waste properly.
-
Wash in warm soapy water; rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Are the bakeware items oven safe?
- The bakeware items are oven safe up to 230°C. They are not grill safe.
Are the bakeware items microwave safe?
No, do not use the bakeware items in the microwave.
Should I add butter, oil or flour to the bakeware items before putting food in?
For baking any kind of dough, we recommend brushing a thin layer of butter on the interior surface of the bakeware prior to its use. There is no need to dust the surface with flour. When roasting, we recommend using oil or butter. Do not use extra virgin olive oil or any oil spray.
Can I cut food or use metal utensils whilst it is in the bakeware?
Do not cut food whilst it is in the bakeware. Metal utensils (e.g. with forks and knives) can cause scratching of any non-stick surface. Bamboo, plastic, rubber or other wooden utensils are recommended to prolong the life of the bakeware.
How should I store my bakeware products?
- Storing bakeware along with metal implements can cause scratches in the surface.
- Always ensure your bakeware is clean and dry before you store it. Always nest your bakeware carefully.
